Lions vs. Giants live stream: How to watch ‘Monday Night Football’ online

The Giants struggled to score in their season opener, thanks, in part, to the absence of All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. The Lions didn’t have the same problem, rolling up 35 points against the Cardinals in Week 1. Beckham is on the brink of a return, but will he be enough to jump-start New York’s offense when the two teams meet on Monday Night Football at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN (live stream)?

New York needs a prime-time home victory to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole in its quest to return to the postseason. Detroit, looking to build off last year’s nine-win campaign, will try to keep its head start on the way to the top of the NFC North with a road win. If Beckham is back to full strength, it’s a matchup that promises fireworks — but after the Giants scored just three points last week, the potential for a lopsided blowout is certainly in play.

“He is amazing,” Browns coach Hue Jackson said Wednesday. “You guys know how I feel about Joe Thomas. What he has done and how he has done it is remarkable to me. We are talking about a guy who has never missed a snap. That is kind of unheard of.

“I see guys come out for things where I go, ‘Whoa.’ Now, it amazes me if anybody ever comes out of a game having been around Joe Thomas and seeing what he has done. I think our players see that, too. I think a lot of that rubs off in our locker room. You talk about a guy who is an iron man? That is a true iron man. That is truly what it is all about.”

The NFL hasn’t tracked snaps long enough to have a definitive answer whether 10,000 is the record. But in a sport as violent as football, all it would’ve taken is a quick roll of the ankle for Thomas to miss even one snap and end the streak. Heck, he could’ve lost a shoe at one point and missed a play.

Instead, the 10-time Pro Bowler has been on the field every damn time a Browns quarterback started a play — no matter how many different guys that has been under center. For now, it’s DeShone Kizer, a rookie who can already appreciate how absurd Thomas’ accomplishment is.

Great DeShone Kizer quote on Joe Thomas: “He is a unicorn and he is going to have a gold jacket coming soon.”
