Adam Vinatieri kicks his 27th career game winner to beat the 49ers in overtime, 26-23
The San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts were a couple minutes away from giving us the first tie of the 2017 season, but Adam Vinatieri snatched away a victory with a 51-yard field goal to give the Colts a 26-23 win.
Vinatieri, 44, passed Gary Anderson for second all-time in successful field goals with the winner, which was his fourth made kick of the game. He’s now just 26 field goals behind Hall of Famer Morten Andersen for the record.
The team’s poor play on defense has led to a disappointing 2-2 SU and 1-3 ATS start that includes two losses at home as a favorite of a touchdown or more.
Over their last 15 games played in the month of October, the Patriots are 13-2 SU and 10-4-1 ATS, per the OddsShark NFL Database. That stretch includes a 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS record on the road.
Tampa Bay edged out the New York Giants 25-23 last Sunday to improve to 2-1 SU on the season, but fell to 1-2 ATS as 2.5-point favorites in the process. Dating back to last year, the Buccaneers are now 8-3 SU and 7-4 ATS over their last 11 games, including a 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS record at home.
Changes to the defensive personnel. While the Saints are already down a pair of starters after losing Nick Fairley to an offseason heart condition and Delvin Breaux to a fractured fibula, they’ve been able to make changes and find better personnel on their bench. While their defensive line rotation has mostly stayed identical throughout the season, the Saints have made moves elsewhere.
